Andrew Davidson is the Manager of Earth Observation Operations in AAFC's AgroClimate, Geomatics and Earth Observation Division (ACGEO), the Division responsible for the operationalization of AAFC's geospatial research. Andrew maintains strong links to academia. At Carleton University, he is an Adjunct Research Professor in the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies and an Affiliated Researcher with the university’s Global Water Institute. Andrew’s academic training is in Physical Geography, with an emphasis on remote sensing, geomatics, spatial analysis and spatio-temporal modeling. He is a graduate of the Universities of Edinburgh and Toronto, and completed his post-doctoral studies at the Canada Centre for Remote Sensing. Andrew currently co-leads the GEO Global Agricultural Monitoring (GLAM) Joint Experiment for Crop Assessment and Monitoring (JECAM). The overarching goal of JECAM is to reach a convergence of approaches, develop monitoring and reporting protocols and best practices for a variety of global agricultural systems. Andrew actively supports Canada's remote sensing community through his involvement with various remote sensing organizations. He was previously a member of the National Executive Committee of the Canadian Remote Sensing Society and the Chair of the CRSS Communications Working Group. In November 2013, Andrew was elected to the College of Fellows of the Royal Canadian Geographic Society.
